Welcome (and what’s new)!

Welcome to my brand-spanking-new site! (The spanking bit is for Riley and her girls who love good spankings! 🤣) Please make yourself at home! The lovely ladies up above are the Seven Sisters of the Pleiades and they’re here to make you feel welcome. They’ve been helping out our ancestors thousands and thousands of years and now they’re more than happy to help you! 😄

Most of you are probably coming from Substack, so you probably also know about all the drama and bad behavior by them and especially Stripe! (Boo Stripe! 🤬) So you’ll be happy to know my new site will totally drama free! We can just hang out here and enjoy ourselves as we are free to as adults capable of intelligently managing our own affairs!

Yes, this site is intended for adults, so if you aren’t one yet (18+), you’re welcome back when you are!

My goal is to make you a comfortable as possible here and give you an experience you’ll enjoy. So, since we’re mostly “Substackians” I’ve tried to implement as many of the same “Substack-ish” features as possible. Some I’m still working on, and I’m updating this post as a kind of “changelog” (to be super tech-talky 🤣) as I make progress!

Here’s some things you can do (or will be able to)!

You can subscribe for free! Just click the Subscribe button and enter your mail! That will get you notifications whenever I post new content (like Substack). You’ll get an excerpt, instead of the full post (not like Substack). If you prefer getting the full post, let me know and I’ll see what I can do! Status: not ready for Primetime but will be soon! I’ll be posting updates on my Substack so you can get them that way, too!

Comment! Comments are enabled! You’ll have to enter your name (any name) and a valid email. Check that handy little box under the comment field if you want to be remembered do you don’t have to enter your info each time. Also there a little box labeled Notify me of follow-up comments via email. It’s checked by default. Uncheck it if you don’t want notifications. Status: needs a special plug-in installed because my WordPress theme can be a brat! Planned by the end of this week! (Note: the plug-in should also indent treaded comments, making them easier to track! Holding thumbs!)

Likes! You can like posts and comments (just like Substack!) but you won’t get notifications (not like Substack). Status: working.

Direct Messaging: This is a planned feature. You will be able to DM but not other subscribers. Feel free to chat in the comments, though! I hope to have this feature working soon!

Paid subscriptions! Boy! That’s been a saga! But it’s finally sorted out! I’ll have paid subscriptions working very soon, thanks to my awesome PHP developer! You’ll see a familiar paywall if you are not a paid member and full member posts if you are (just like Substack) and you shouldn’t have to login each time (also like Substack). I’ll be accepting PayPal payments and credit cards, starting at $5/mo (same as my Substack). If you’re currently a paid (or comped) subscriber to my Substack, you’ll have full access here too! And no danger of being suspended! (Not like Substack!) 🤣

If you’re currently paid subscriber, the password to unlock the Protected (member’s) posts is one my Substack and I’ll be reposting it each update so you don’t have to hunt it down!

Oh, and the Sign In link at upper-right? Ignore it for now. It’s come into it’s own when the paid subscription are active. Right now, it will take you to login page but there’s not to login to there yet!

Those are the main points right now. If I for something (very likely! 😆), I’ll update this later.

For now, I’ll leave you with a video about what I believe the Writer’s Journey is. (No that’s not me or much like me at all! I’ve said that before but I’ll keep saying so there’s no confusion! 😄)

Thank you for visiting and I hope you like it here! Feedback is super-welcome! 😄

  1. Dear Robin, I am so happy about your new website; it must have been really nerve-wracking, but the wait was truly worth it. Great work. 😍 💗 💗 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹

    1. Thank you so super-much! Yes, it was a lot of work but I’m very happy with the outcome! I super-appreciate all your amazing support for getting it finished! 😄😊

  2. Glad you’ve finally become fully independent. Congratulations! It’s too bad it was necessary, but enshittification is rampant in online media.

    1. Thank you, Stan! Yes, it’s too bad that happens and we can’t rely on companies to keep their standards up. But they’ve been saying don’t put your fate in the hands of others for a long time, and it true now more that ever, I think.
