Our Commitment to You
Every company and website claims they respect your privacy. How many really do? Damn few. Exploiting us by tracking everything we do online, including our keystrokes, mouse movements, everything we hover over or click on, and now collecting our IDs, selfies, fingerprints, and voices, all to profile us and sell our personal data to anyone who will pay. We are the commodity that’s made Alphabet (Google), Meta (Facebook), and Apple worth trillions and the most powerful organizations in history. Many, many smaller companies have followed suite. 1984’s “Big Brother” could not, in Orwell’s most fearful dreams, imagine the degree to which we are under surveillance in there current times.
For these reasons, we don’t just take privacy seriously, we’re almost rabid about it. It is our goal to not just protect your privacy, but not invade it in the first place, to the maximum extent possible. For this website to operate and be secure against malicious bad actors (of whom there are far too many) we do have to take certain measures that collect and retain some data. There may be legal requirements that we retain certain data, but we keep these to an absolute minimum. This policy outlines what data we do or might collect, and how it may be shared (unless we can avoid it).
Comments
You are required to provide a valid email to leave a comment. When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you make comments, DO NOT INCLUDE PERSONAL DATA. We reserve the right to erase information in comments that we deem inappropriate.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service, if you are using Gravatar. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment on this site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. This are so you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Embedded content from other websites
We sometimes embed content from our personal Google drives on this website. (However, we are working to eliminate that.) No other content from 3rd-party websites is embedded.
Who we share your data with
We do not share data unless demanded by a legitimate court order having proper legal jurisdiction.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata can be retained indefinitely. The purpose of this is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data
You can request that we provide and/or erase any personal data we hold regarding you, including comments. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for legal purposes.
Where your data is sent
We only send data necessary to detect spam and for Captcha to secure our forms. We use Cloudflare Turnstile (not Google’s reCaptcha, which just “recaptures” your data) because it offers the best tradeoff between security and privacy. If you make a purchase or donation on our site, your payment data is (obviously) sent to the payment processor by secure connection. We do not see, collect, store or have any access to this data except the name you enter to identify your transaction and, in some cases, the the last 4 digits of a credit card used. The payment processor may share these last 4 digits with us as part of the transaction record, so we can process a refund if asked to do so. See your credit card company and/or PayPal for their specific privacy policies.
Otherwise, your data is not sent from this site to any 3rd party.
