Water Lilies 🔒🔥

When I was in the 3rd Grade, Monet was one of my favorite artists. I’d just discovered oil pastels (being rather young for oil paints) and they were the perfect thing to do impressionist “paintings” on 5×7 notecards, inspired my Monet’s Water Lilies. I produced one, showed my mom, and she was impressed. She gave me a quarter for it. I promptly ran back to my room and started doing different water lily paintings.

Having paid a quarter for the first one, she felt obliged to “reward” my efforts until the living room for thoroughly decorated with Monet “knockoffs.” Dad came home, surveyed my work, heard the story and laughed his ass off! (It was a good day!)

I didn’t know at the time that Monet had done about 250 water lilies paintings in his series. My output was nowhere near that! But I retain a fondness for those paintings.

However, I also came to feel there was something—make that someone—missing. The spirit of the water lilies. So here she is!

I have more in this theme (not 250 to be sure) that I can post, if there’s interest. Feel free to let me know!
